Grouse Grind Challenge

This was the first time in a few years that I had done the Grind. Jamieson had done it once last year and bragged that he could do it under an hour. That did not surprise me given his ability to run. The hot weather took its toll on us and we completed the Grind in 1:33:31. Feeling that we had something to prove, we returned the Grind today. The weather was much cooler going up and almost cold at the top. It was even busier today but we covered the ground quicker. We reached the top 20 minutes quicker than last weekend. 1:13:37. We celebrated with a Beaver Tai l and then went for lunch at Mix, The Bakery . Happy training, happy life!

Weekend in Kamloops

View from the TRU Residence in Kamloops BC Originally uploaded by erinlesleylee We are just home from the long weekend in Kamloops BC. About a 4 hour drive from Vancouver, we were up there for the Junior Development Track and Field Provincial meet. This was the last track meet of the year for Jamieson. He ran hard and jumped high in the heat and smoke to achieve 2 PRs (100m and 200m). I went for 2 runs while were up there. A 5.5km and a 12.5km run. Both were tough in the heat (30+C) and the hills in Kamloops are killer! All in all, a great weekend of activity for the whole family. PS. If ever find yourself in Kamloops in the summer, I would suggest staying at the Thompson Rivers University Residence (TRU Rez) . Free parking, free WiFi, breakfast included plus a 2 bedroom unit for $89.95/night.
